1959 Ashley 1172
Registration No. 738 KTE
The my first sighting of this Ashley 1172, which was first registered in July 1959 at the Lancaster County Council as 738 KTE was not in UK but on the internet and in Italy in 2007.
That's 48 years of unknown history, if anyone has any knowledge of this car over those years I would like to hear from you to help fill in that gap, maybe you built it or owned it or sold it, please let us know.

It wasn't until November 2007 that these next 4 photo's were published with an article in the Agor@ Magazine, an Italian website, still with the UK registration at this time.

The article with these photo's described the Ashley Laminates history of the 1950/60's and described this Ashley as:
"Very rare in these parts, was recently restored Ashley 1172 (see photo's), owned by a Roman collector, who has returned it to its former glory. Compared to the original it has upgraded braking system with hydraulic brakes, which have replaced the original unsuitable brakes for the roads and chaotic traffic of today.
The car has been treated by mechanical Gialloquaranta Club in Rome and was recently exhibited at the Salon of Padua .
Then in 2008 the owner Francesco Arcieri sent some more photo's to the Oldclassiccars website as shown below.

I then found another set of 3 photo's on the Fairthopre S.C.C website in their Photo Gallery from around October 2010, these showed the Ashley on various rallies or events and strangely it's identified as an Ashley Sport 950 when it's clearly an Ashley 1172 with an E93A 1172cc Ford engine.
Did someone mix up the early Ashley 750 and the Ashley 1172 body's made as 90 & 95 models (for the 7' 6" & 7' 10" wheelbase Ford chassis's) and add a Zero on the end for good luck.
If anyone has any knowledge of this 950 please let me know.

More photo's seem to be leaking onto the internet through various means, these shown below were all taken in August 2010 and appeared with a For Sale advert in Italy in February 2011 under the heading of:
Ashley 1172 Sports Barchetta

I know it's Red, but I think that was maybe a typo in the price listed one Zero to many perhaps, that would bring it into line with other
Ashley prices in UK and EU countries at that time.
